Star Wars : Death Troopers - Book Review

All one needs to do is take a look at the cover of Death Troopers to know that it stands out from the pack of Star Wars books that seem to flood bookstores every month. This one was relased just in time for Halloween. Sorry for the late review.

Inside the pages you will find the very first Horror novel set in a galaxy far, far, away. There is also a little Cyberpunk genre thrown in as well.

The setup is simple: A prison ship (Yes, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum & villiany!) breaks down in the far reaches of space. A seemingly empty star destroyer is found nearby, a team is dispatched to loot it for spare parts. only a few return to the Prison ship, of course, they are not the same. Soon a virus is spreading through the ship and it's every person for themselves. It mixes two of my favorite things: Star Wars & Zombies!

A couple characters you may know do make an appearance.

I'm not familiar with the past works of author Joe Schreiber But I will be tracking them down. Death Troopers is written in a style that recalls Bruce Sterling & William Gibson to me.

I think the young fans of Clone Wars may want to hold off on this one. There is no strong Language or situations, There is violence! This book gets graphic in descriptions.

Here's hoping they make a movie of this! come on, George Lucas.

Star Wars has created it's own universe hasn't it? Fun review, I haven't been into either genre in years but how can you pass up a title like "Star Wars Death Troopers?" I think Quentin Tarantino would be more apt to direct this then Lucas! Lucas has kind of turned into a curmudgeon too I think, it makes me wonder what you thought of the prequels bat115? I was pretty disappointed in them, jarjar binks being the death blow! LOL.

Anyway, you gave this book some life, I'll let my Star Wars buddies know about it!

I've been thinking of doing a hub on the star wars films. I was dissapointed overall with the prequels, I think they did get better as they went along.. but still it's hard to sit through them, unlike the original. I do kinda like the first season of Clone Wars... haven't had the chance to catch any of the second season.

I haven't seen any of Clone Wars, the previews that I saw looked good though, I should check it out.

I've had a hard time getting into any of the Star Wars novels. But it's interesting how this new obsession with zombies has finally crossed over into Star Wars.

It seems only natural since we now have "Star Wars Transformer" toys in the market.

NateSean, Thanks for the comment. personally, I hope the obsession with zombies never ends. I can't get enough of 'em. Zombies & The Living Dead... good times!

geo, thanks too to you for your comment. if it was written by Alan Dean Foster or Timothy Zahn, It should be at least worht a read.

Is this THE Nick Zedd? Thanks for the comment. I think it's at least the best one since the 80s at least.

I'm definitely picking this up then. I was debating it as it is not the usual Star Wars book but never pushed myself to do it.

I'm honestly disappointed with the Star Wars franchise. They're doing a lot of the same old, same old and refuse to change the formula. Some of the best books recently I've read, are the side books.

And contrary to most, I actually like Traviss. Because it was a different point of view for once.

Jax, Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! I haven't read any of Karen Traviss' books yet but am planning on doing it soon.
